American Water
Works Service Company 1961 to 1968 Division Engineer
• Investigations of problems related
to the chemical and biological quality of drinking water with the successful solution of many treatment problems of ground
and surface water treatment processes throughout the Division. • Design of the chemical treatment program for six water
treatment plants including two special water treatment studies to reduce chemical treatment cost; successfully solved major
water supply shortage in Bangor, Pennsylvania with a unique conservation program directing late winter and early spring snow
runoff into two abandoned slate quarries for storage.
Department of Environmental Protection 1956
to 1961 Lafayette, Louisiana Regional Engineer • Supervised a staff of two engineers responsible
for the inspection of 127 water supply systems in the Southwest Region of the state including major water treatment plants
of Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Alexandria. These inspections frequently resulted in recommendations for changes in the treatment
process or hydraulic improvements.
U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps 1953 to 1957 Commissioned
Officer
• Served four years as a project officer for base housing and recreational facilities with Navy Construction
Battalion Four in North Africa, Cuba, Bermuda, and Newfoundland. The most significant duty was Commanding Officer of 125
man detachment at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Bermuda Assigned to construct a 1.0 million gallon water storage tank and rainwater
catchment area or base water supply.
